Dear Polar Vortex,
I think we need to talk. Our time together has been incredible, really. I value everything you've shared with me. Nights buried under every blanket in the house. The way your solid wall of cold can take my breath away. How your very presence sucks all the humidity out of a space. You've been so generous with your gifts; killing off the stinkbugs and mosquito larvae, giving me a fighting chance against the poison ivy in the Spring.
But, the world turns and seasons change and sometimes people grow apart. I've been doing some hard thinking lately. This is difficult to say, but I think I need some space. I need to focus on my garden, get my hands in some soil that isn't frozen. It isn't you, it's me. You have a whole life back home, folks who rely on you and I just don't feel right taking you away from them. it would be selfish to keep you here.
So, I hope we can part as friends, no hard feelings. I'll understand if you're a little cold toward me, but I think we'll all be happier if you pack your things and went back to your place.
All the best,
Your Shivering Southern Girl
